Leapmotor C10 PPF guide cover — pre-cut paint protection film for the Leapmotor C10

Leapmotor C10 PPF: Pre-Cut Paint Protection Film Guide (BEV & REEV)

The Leapmotor C10 is a lot of SUV for the money — and a big, upright front the road loves to chip. Here's an honest look at the C10's paint, the spots owners always forget (hello, rockers and loading edge), how to open that fiddly hood, and how a pre-cut PPF kit — scanned from the real car — protects it.

1. Why protect a Leapmotor C10?

The Leapmotor C10 is one of Europe's best-value electric SUVs — sold through Stellantis dealers as a pure-electric (BEV) car and as a clever range-extender (REEV) with a small petrol generator for up to ~974 km of total range. It's roomy, well-equipped and undercuts almost everything in its class.

That value is exactly why paint protection makes sense here:

  • The C10 has a big, tall, flat front. A large upright nose and a long hood mean a lot of surface pointed straight at motorway stone chips.
  • Resale on value-brand imports is still unproven. Keeping the paint flawless is one of the few things you fully control — and the areas that quietly wear (sills, loading edge) are exactly where a used C10 looks tired.

Paint protection film (PPF) is a clear, protective film that takes chips and scuffs so your paint doesn't. New to pre-cut kits? Our pattern-making guide shows how they're made — and why a scan-based pattern fits like it grew on the car.

2. Is the Leapmotor C10's paint soft?

Honest answer: it's mixed, and too new for a settled verdict.

  • German-language testers have been the most critical, flagging visible orange peel in the paint and slightly uneven panel gaps on some cars.
  • On the German owner forum, at least one C10 owner described the finish as scratch-sensitive, reported pre-delivery scratches, and had the car ceramic-coated partly for that reason.
  • Against that, several UK reviewers praised the C10's paint and panel gaps as good for the price. So finish quality clearly varies car to car.

Two takeaways: dark colours (Metallic Black) show swirls worst, and because quality varies, inspect your specific car in good light before you apply the film — PPF is optically clear and will preserve any orange peel underneath for years.

One practical upside: because the C10 is shipped from China, the factory paint is fully cured by the time you collect it — so there's no "let it gas out" wait. After a proper wash and decontamination, you can apply the PPF right away.

3. Where the Leapmotor C10 chips and scratches first

The C10's big upright nose means plenty of frontal area to protect. Damage tends to start here:

  • Front bumper and the black lower section — the prime stone-chip zone; some owners even wrap the black lower bumper in PPF to keep it looking new.
  • Hood leading edge — a large panel with a prominent ridge, hit head-on at motorway speed.
  • Front fenders, mirror caps and A-pillars. The mirror cap is also your NFC keycard reader, so it's touched constantly.
  • Rockers, side skirts and the rear loading edge — the quiet wear zones covered in the next section.
  • Flush door handles and their finger recesses — the C10's don't pop out, so you press into the recess each time (fingernail wear).

We scan every panel of the real car — here the C10 front bumper (left) and the tailgate with its embossed badges (right) — so each piece is cut to the millimetre.

4. The bits everyone forgets: rockers & the loading edge

Most people cover the hood and bumper and stop there. On the C10, the highest-value, most-overlooked protection is lower down — and it's cheap:

  • The rocker panels and side skirts below the doors. On a tall SUV like the C10 (1.68 m) these sit right in the front wheels' spray path — collecting stone rash, tar and grit — and get brushed by shoes and bags on the way in and out. The dedicated Rocker Panel piece covers the exterior sill, and the Door + Rear Fender + Side Skirt pieces protect the lower doors and side-skirt line in one go.
  • The rear loading edge — the horizontal painted lip you drag shopping, luggage and (for REEV road-trippers) gear over every time you load the boot. The Luggage Area piece is the cheapest in the whole kit and saves the classic scuff line.
Why it's worth it: these areas are almost always left off "front-only" packages, yet they're where an unprotected C10 looks tired at trade-in. Together they're a fraction of one respray — and completely invisible once on.
Pre-cut PPF wrapped around a panel edge — no parts removed

Wherever a panel allows it, our patterns are designed to wrap the PPF around the edge and tuck it out of sight — with no need to remove any parts.

5. Pre-cut PPF vs. vinyl wrap vs. ceramic coating

Three products people mix up — here's what each does for a C10:

Option What it is Stops chips? Paint risk Best for
Pre-cut PPF kit Clear PPF, cut to the exact C10 panel from a scan Yes — self-healing on our TPU PPF None — no blade on the car Invisible protection + a safe DIY install
Ceramic coating A microns-thin liquid-glass layer No — too thin None Gloss and easy cleaning, not impact protection
Colour / matte vinyl wrap Thin coloured vinyl, for looks Barely None Changing the colour, not stopping chips

Swipe the table sideways to see every column.

The C10's European range is gloss white plus gloss metallics (no factory matte), so standard gloss PPF is the right choice unless you've had the car wrapped matte. The usual recommendation: PPF on the high-impact areas, ceramic on top and over the rest for shine and easy washing. One caveat owners raise: on a leased C10, get the lessor's OK before wrapping to avoid end-of-term issues.

6. The C10 kit, piece by piece

The C10 kit is sold as individual pre-cut pieces, so you can start with the front and add the rockers, side skirts and loading edge whenever you like. The most-requested pieces:

Kit piece What it protects Oraguard 270 PK-G2
Bumper + Headlamp The front bumper and headlight edges — the number-one stone-chip zone €188 €291
Hood + Fender The full hood and both front wings (a one-third leading-edge option is cheaper) €220 €341
(left/right) Door + Rear Fender + Side Skirt The lower doors, rear wings and the side-skirt line, per side €286.75 €444
Rocker Panel The outer sills below the doors — road spray and stone rash €89 €138
Trunk Lid The painted tailgate with the LEAPMOTOR & C10 badges €160 €248
Rear Bumper (6 PDC) The rear bumper, cut around the six parking sensors €139 €215
Mirror Both mirror caps — the driver's side also reads your NFC keycard, so high-touch €39 €60
Luggage Area The rear loading edge you drag bags and gear over €28 €43

Swipe sideways for the price columns. Prices are per piece — mix and match, or take a full-front set. Oraguard 270 is our economy PPF; PK-G2 is our premium self-healing TPU.

A popular starting point is the full front (Bumper + Headlamp, Hood + Fender, Mirrors) plus the three overlooked bits — Rocker Panel, the side-skirt door pieces and the Luggage Area. Not sure which PPF grade? Compare them in the Material Selection Guide.

7. What a C10 kit costs — and your two PPF choices

No guesswork: the kit is priced per piece (see the table above), and you pick the PPF:

  • Oraguard 270 — our economy PPF (5-year warranty). These are the lower prices in the table, and the cheapest way in is the Luggage Area at €28.
  • PPF-Kits PK-G2 — our premium, self-healing TPU and best-value pick (9-year warranty). It's the PPF most owners choose for a car they'll keep, and it shrugs off light swirls with heat.

As a guide, a full front (Bumper + Headlamp, Hood + Fender, Mirrors) starts at €447 in Oraguard 270 or €692 in PK-G2 — then add the Rocker Panel and Luggage Area to cover the rockers and loading edge. Compare both PPF grades side by side in the Material Selection Guide.

Either way, a pre-cut DIY kit costs far less than a professional install: you provide the time and a clean space, and the PPF, squeegee and slip solution come in the box.

8. Leapmotor C10 DIY install tips

  1. Order for your exact car. European-spec, correct year, Pure Electric or Range-Extended in the title (the body is shared, so either fits — just match the naming).
  2. Sort the hood first. It's a two-step open — pull the interior release lever (lower-left of the wheel), then turn the car's physical key in the lock at the centre of the front panel (step-by-step here). Day-to-day you use the NFC card, but it ships with a key for this. Sort it so you can tuck the leading-edge PPF cleanly.
  3. Inspect and decontaminate. Wash, clay and wipe down; check for orange peel and correct anything that bothers you before applying PPF.
  4. Don't skip the rockers. The Rocker Panel and Door + Side Skirt pieces are the highest-ROI PPF on the car — do them while you're set up.
  5. Test-fit the edges. Panel gaps can vary car to car — dry-position each piece before committing it.
  6. Work warm and dust-free — a clean garage at ~18–22 °C, plenty of slip solution to float and align, lighter tack to lock.
  7. Cut cleanly around the sensors. Expect a front radar behind the badge and a front camera (plus parking sensors on cars that have them) — keep them clear, and mind the driver's mirror-cap keycard reader.
  8. Wrap the edges and let it cure. Tuck PPF into gaps where the pattern allows, then skip the car wash for ~48 hours.
  9. Decide about the tailgate lettering first. The raised LEAPMOTOR and C10 letters interrupt the flat panel; the pre-cut trunk piece is cut around them, but if you want a seamless finish, gently warm and twist the letters off (and clean the residue) before applying PPF.

9. Which Leapmotor C10 kit to buy

Pick your year and the version whose name matches your car — Pure Electric for the BEV, Range-Extended for the REEV — then choose your pieces (or a full-front set) and PPF grade. Kits ship pre-cut and pre-weeded, usually the next working day.

C10 Pure Electric 2026 (BEV) — from €28C10 Range-Extended 2026 (REEV) — from €28C10 2025 (BEV & REEV) — from €28
BEV or REEV — same kit. Both share the same body, so the PPF pieces are identical; just match the year and the version name to your registration. Order the European-spec car — a China facelift and the DACH Irmscher i C10 differ up front.

Driving a 2025 REEV, or want to see every option? Browse the full Leapmotor collection — the C10 is there in both powertrains and years — or tell us your car and we'll point you to the right pattern.

10. Frequently asked questions

Does the Leapmotor C10 need PPF?
It's optional, but the C10's large, flat front is a big stone-chip target and the rockers and side skirts scuff with everyday use. A pre-cut front-and-rockers kit is inexpensive insurance that also helps protect resale value on a value-priced EV.

Is the Leapmotor C10's paint soft?
It's inconsistent rather than proven-soft. Some reviewers noted orange peel and an owner called it scratch-sensitive; others praised it. Dark colours show marks most. Because it varies car to car, inspect and correct your specific car before you apply PPF.

Is the PPF kit different for the BEV and the REEV C10?
No — the Pure Electric (BEV) and Range-Extended (REEV) share the same body, so the panels and pre-cut pieces are identical. Just order for your exact European-spec year.

How do I open the Leapmotor C10 hood?
Two steps: pull the interior release lever to the left of the steering wheel, then turn the key in the lock at the centre of the front panel to release the second catch and lift the hood. Practise it before an install so you can wrap the leading edge cleanly.

Should I protect the C10's rockers and loading edge?
Yes — it's some of the best-value PPF on the car. The rockers and side skirts catch road spray and stone rash, and the rear loading edge gets scuffed every time you load the boot. The Rocker Panel piece (from €89) and the Luggage Area piece (from €28) stop exactly the scuffs owners only notice at trade-in.

PPF, ceramic or a wrap for a C10?
PPF is the only one thick enough to stop stone chips. Ceramic adds gloss and easy cleaning but can't absorb impacts; a vinyl wrap changes colour but doesn't protect. The common setup is PPF on the front and sills, ceramic over the rest.

How much does PPF cost for a Leapmotor C10?
Kits are priced per piece — the front bumper from €188, or a full front from €447 — in economy Oraguard 270 PPF, or our premium self-healing PK-G2. A pre-cut DIY kit costs far less than a professional install. Compare the PPF grades in the Material Selection Guide.

Can I install the C10 kit myself?
Yes. Pre-cut kits are cut and pre-weeded with nothing trimmed on the car. Learn the hood routine, test-fit the edges, work in a clean warm space and follow the installation instructions. On a leased C10, get the lessor's OK first.

Can I take a C10 with PPF through a car wash?
Once the PPF has cured (about 48 hours), yes — but a gentle hand wash is kindest to the paint and the PPF edges. If you use an automatic conveyor wash, shift the C10 into Neutral and switch off Auto-Hold first: its wash mode otherwise sets the parking brake, which can jam the rollers. Fold the mirrors and turn off the auto wipers too.
