How to Order Custom PPF Kits – Even If Your Car Is Not Listed
If your vehicle is not listed in the PPF-Kits shop, you can still get pre-cut paint protection film (PPF) for it. Send the make, model, model year and photos. Sometimes the pattern already exists and has not been published yet. If it does not exist, the car can be 3D scanned and a new pattern built. The same route covers single parts taken out of a kit.
This page covers what to send for a custom PPF request, what happens after you send it, and which requests cannot be built.

Check the catalogue first
Before you write, it is worth a proper look. The brand catalogue lists vehicles by manufacturer, and the vehicle finder filters by year, make, model and variant. One thing catches people out: each model year is listed as its own entry rather than as a year range, so the same model appears several times and the one you want is the entry matching your year and variant.
There is also a second list. Not every pattern we hold is published in the shop. The catalogue is what is buyable today; the pattern library is everything that exists internally, including patterns that have not been put online yet. So an empty search result does not settle the question.
What to send us
There are two routes, and which one you want depends on whether you are sending pictures. The live chat is the one to use for photos, because the contact form has no attachment field. The form is the better choice when the request is described in words: it has a topic selector that already includes Vehicle Request and Bundle request, and a field for a link to your model from the shop.
Four steps:
- Open the live chat, or the contact page if you have no pictures to send.
- Give the make, model, model year, and the trim or package if you know it.
- Send photos through the chat: front three-quarter, rear three-quarter, both sides, and a straight-on shot of the front bumper. Add close-ups of each parking sensor, camera and badge on any panel you want covered. Daylight, whole panel in frame, phone photos are fine.
- If you already found something close in the shop, paste the product link. The link identifies which pattern variant your question is about, which photos on their own cannot do.
If it helps, paste this and fill it in:
Vehicle: [make, model, model year]
Trim / package: [e.g. S line, M Sport, Performance]
Country the car was sold in: [ ]
What I need: [full kit / front kit / single part, named]
Product link, if you found one: [ ]
Photos: [sending them in the chat / none yet]
Questions worth asking in the same message
These are answered case by case rather than by a fixed rule, so ask them up front instead of after you order:
- What this costs compared with a catalogue kit of similar size.
- Whether a new scan is needed, and what that involves for you.
- Realistic timing, if you are booking an installation slot.
- Which film to specify. The material selection guide compares the gloss and matte options.
- How cancellation works on your specific request. Kits are produced to the configuration you select rather than picked off a shelf, and the refund policy sets out what that means for the right of withdrawal once production has started. Read it before you order rather than after.
What happens after you send it
- We read the photos and details and work out which body variant you actually have.
- We check the pattern library, including patterns that are not published in the shop.
- The answer falls into one of three groups: the pattern exists, the pattern would have to be developed, or the request is not something that can be built well.
- Where development is involved, what it requires is set out before anything is produced. Ask what it means for cost and timing at that point, not after.
- For a request that goes ahead, an offer listing the exact parts follows.
- The kit is cut and weeded and ships with a printed layout sheet showing which piece goes where. Installation instructions are on the site.
Timing depends on which of those three groups the request falls into. In some cases it is quick — one to two days from the first message.
Cars that have never been scanned
A pattern is not drawn from a photo or a manufacturer drawing. It comes from a 3D scan of a real example of that car, so a car that has never been scanned needs one before anything else can happen.
Two scanners do that work. A markerless scanner handles full vehicles at 0.02 mm point accuracy, and a marker-based scanner is used for single panels and facelift updates where the detail matters more than the coverage. The scan is then flattened in our own software, the PPF-Kits Pattern Solution Center, which turns the 3D surface into a stretch-compensated 2D cutting pattern, so that a flat piece of film sits correctly on a curved panel. Before a pattern goes into the catalogue, it is cut and installed on the real vehicle to confirm the fit. The full process is documented separately.
The car being scanned does not have to be ours. We can source the car ourselves, and in some cases we scan dealer vehicles, customer vehicles, or rare trims and special editions. Scanning is not tied to one location either: the team travels to other countries to scan newly launched models.
A vehicle scanned on request is added to the official database once it is developed and test-fitted, so the same pattern becomes available to other owners of that model. A request for a car nobody has asked for yet expands the catalogue for everyone.
Scan data of an Aston Martin Vantage S and an Aston Martin Valhalla, shown as it looks before the surface is flattened into a flat cutting pattern.
Single parts and split kits
Many products are sold as kits, for example doors together with rocker panels, or the hood together with the fenders. If you only need part of that, send the link to the kit and say which pieces you want. A separate quote is prepared for that combination.
Requests we handle regularly:
- Rocker panels only, without the doors.
- The hood and one fender from a full front kit.
- A single door.
- A single mirror.
- A replacement piece after an installation mistake.
It is worth asking the other way round too. If a kit covers most of what you want and you also need a panel that is not in it, name that panel in the same message and ask whether the two can be quoted together.
Changes to an existing pattern
It helps to know which kind of request you are making, because the two are very different amounts of work.
Edits to a pattern that already exists are changes to a cutting file we already hold. Examples:
- A version without logo cutouts.
- A bumper without parking sensor (PDC) cutouts.
- A modified coverage area, for example extended coverage on leading edges for track use.
A vehicle that has never been scanned needs a scan first, and everything after it. That is a different scale of job.
One caution on cutouts. Whether film across a parking sensor or a camera affects how it works depends on the sensor and the film, so ask us about your specific car before ordering that version. It is a decision to make before the kit is cut rather than after.
Why the exact car matters
Within one model year, bumpers, sensor layouts, camera positions and sport-package bodywork can all differ by market and by options list. Two cars that share a name and a year can need two different patterns. That is why we ask for photos rather than just a model name, and why a product link helps when you already have one in mind: both narrow down which variant is actually sitting in your garage. Going by the model name alone is the usual way the wrong kit gets ordered.
Older and out-of-production cars
Age is not the obstacle. The obstacle is access to a car. A pattern needs a real example to scan, and the finished pattern is test-fitted on a real example before it is published, so an out-of-production model is possible when a suitable car can be reached and impossible when it cannot.
Condition matters more on an older car than on a new one. A panel that has been repaired, reshaped or replaced with a non-original part is no longer the shape the scan was taken from, and a pre-cut piece will show that. If your car has had bodywork, mention it, because it affects whether a pre-cut pattern is the right answer for that panel.
Installers, body shops and fleets
You do not need to own the car to request a pattern. Send the same details you would send for your own vehicle, plus the product link if you are working from an existing kit, and say that it is a booked job so the reply is useful for planning.
Fleet and taxi operators protecting a number of identical vehicles use the same route. Say how many cars are involved, because it changes what is worth quoting.
Anything commercial is better asked than assumed, and this article is not the place it gets answered: repeat or bulk orders, invoicing details, how a multi-vehicle request is handled, and timing. Put those questions in the first message.
Where the answer is no, or not yet
Not every request can be built, and it is cheaper for everyone to find that out before an order than after one.
- Aftermarket bodywork. Widebody conversions, replacement bumpers and non-original body panels are not the shape any scan of a standard car produced. There is no pattern that fits them unless that specific bodywork is scanned.
- Repaired or reshaped panels. Same problem, smaller scale. Pre-cut film is unforgiving about a panel that no longer matches its original contour.
- Cars we cannot get to. If no example of the vehicle can be brought in front of a scanner within reach of the team, the pattern cannot be developed. Rarity and geography, not model year, decide this.
- Photos instead of a scan. Photos identify a configuration. They do not produce geometry, and no pattern can be built from them.
- Anything that cannot be verified. Every pattern is cut and installed on a real vehicle before it is published. A pattern that cannot go through that step does not go into the catalogue.
There are also cases where a request is technically possible but a hand-cut installation by a local installer is the more sensible route. If you suspect yours is one of those, say so in your message and ask.
Common questions
Can I order pre-cut PPF if my car is not in the catalogue?
Yes. Send the make, model, model year and photos of the car. We check the pattern library first, because some patterns exist without being published in the shop. If there is no pattern yet, the vehicle becomes a candidate for scanning.
Do you need my actual car to make a pattern?
Not necessarily. A pattern is built from a 3D scan of a real example of that model. We can source the car ourselves, and in some cases we scan dealer vehicles or customer vehicles. We also travel to other countries to scan newly launched models. What cannot be done is building a pattern from photos alone.
Can I buy a single part instead of a full kit?
Yes. Many products are sold as kits, for example doors together with rocker panels. Send the link to the kit and say which parts you need, and a separate quote is prepared for that combination. If you also need a panel that is not in the kit, name it in the same message and ask whether it can be quoted alongside.
Can you make a bumper without parking sensor or logo cutouts?
Removing parking sensor (PDC) or logo cutouts, or altering the coverage area, are edits to a cutting file that already exists. Whether film over a sensor or camera affects how it works depends on the sensor and the film, so ask about your specific car first. It is a decision to make before the kit is cut rather than after.
Can you make patterns for older or out-of-production cars?
Age itself is not the obstacle. What is needed is access to a car in original condition, both to scan it and to test-fit the finished pattern. Panels that have been repaired, reshaped or replaced with aftermarket parts no longer match the scan they came from.
I am an installer. Can I request a pattern for a customer's car?
Yes. Send the same details you would send for your own vehicle, plus the product link if you are working from an existing kit. Say that it is a booked job and ask about timing in the same message so you can plan the bay.
A pattern made on request is not a lesser version of a catalogue one. It goes through the same steps: a 3D scan of a real car, the flattening into a cutting pattern, and a test fit on the vehicle before it is published. That process is written up in how our pre-cut PPF patterns are made. To start a request, send the make, model, model year and photos through the live chat, or describe the car on the contact page.
