How to Modify a Pre-Cut PPF Kit: Remove Logo Cutouts, PDC Holes and Order Single Parts
Yes — a Pre-Cut PPF kit can be ordered without the logo cutout, without the PDC parking-sensor cutouts, as a single part instead of a full bundle, or with adjusted coverage. You write the change into the Customization Service field on the product page before you order, and the pattern is changed before the kit is cut. Pattern changes go into that field; bundle splits and replacement parts go through live chat.
This page is about changing a pattern that already exists for your car. If your car is not in the catalogue at all, that is a different process — start with ordering custom PPF parts when your car is not listed instead.

What can be changed
Every pattern in the catalogue starts as a 3D scan of a real car. Our own software flattens that curved surface into a flat cutting pattern, and the result is test-fitted on a vehicle before it goes into the shop — the process is described in how we make pre-cut PPF patterns. That is why a pattern is shaped the way it is, and it is also why a change is worth thinking through rather than just asking for.
Four kinds of change come up regularly:
- Remove a logo or emblem cutout — hood, trunk lid, tailgate.
- Remove small cutouts on the front bumper — PDC (park distance control) parking sensors, camera areas, headlamp washer jets.
- Order a single part or a replacement piece instead of a full bundle.
- Adjust coverage — edges, exclusions and specific cutouts, on request.
Removing cutouts and adjusting coverage change the pattern. Ordering a single part or a replacement piece changes what you order, not the shape of the film. The two are handled differently: pattern changes go in the note field on the product page, the other two through live chat.
Standard pattern changes of this kind cost nothing extra — closing a logo or emblem cutout, leaving PDC or other sensor cutouts out, and comparable adjustments to a pattern that already exists. If the change you have in mind is larger or unusual, ask before you order rather than assuming: live chat or the contact page.
| Change | What to write | What to be aware of |
|---|---|---|
| Hood or trunk emblem cutout | Remove Emblem Cutouts from Trunk Lid |
The film then covers the area the badge sits in, so the badge has to be off the panel when you install. |
| PDC / parking-sensor cutouts | Front bumper without PDC cutouts |
The film lies over the sensor faces instead of around them. Keep the cutouts if sensor behaviour matters to you. |
| Front camera opening | Leave out the front camera cutout |
This is a sensing surface, not trim. Ask before removing rather than after. |
| Headlamp washer jets | Front bumper without headlamp washer cutouts |
The covers move when the washers fire, so covering them changes how that part behaves. |
| One piece from a bundle | Only the side skirts from this bundle |
Ask in live chat and send the product link. We put together an offer for exactly that part. |
| Replacement for a damaged piece | Order number plus the part name from the layout sheet | Use the printed name, not a description. It removes the guesswork. |
| Different coverage | Name the panel and the edge, and say what you want | Material can be left in. A pattern cannot grow past the surface that was scanned. |
How to request a modification
- Find the exact kit. Kits differ between model years, trims and bumper variants, so the starting point is the right product page. If you are not sure which one that is, send us your make, model and year in live chat and we will point you to it.
-
Open the product page and find the Customization Service field. It is a plain text field on the product page. The placeholder shows the format we are looking for:
e.g. Remove Emblem Cutouts from Trunk Lid. - Write the change. Name the part, name the cutout, and say what should happen to it. Three elements, one sentence. That is the whole rule.
- Then order. Fill the field in before you add the kit to the cart, so the change is attached to the order itself rather than living in a separate conversation.
If the request needs a conversation rather than a sentence — splitting a bundle, a replacement piece, an unusual coverage question — use live chat or contact us instead. Live chat is the fast route when it is available; the contact page works at any time.
The Customization Service field on the product page. Type the change you want in the same style as the placeholder: name the part, name the cutout, say what should happen to it.

Keep it short. An unambiguous instruction is easier to act on than a paragraph of reasoning.
Removing a logo or emblem cutout
This is the most common request, and it comes up across marques — the T badge on a Tesla hood or trunk lid, the roundel on a BMW, the star on a Mercedes, the rings on an Audi, and the equivalent on VW and Porsche panels. People also call it an emblem delete, a badge delete or debadging.
The reason to ask for it is usually a badge swap. If you are replacing the factory badge with a black or aftermarket one, a pattern with the cutout leaves a cut edge running around the emblem. A pattern with the cutout closed lets the film lie flat across the whole panel, and the new badge sits on top of the film with no visible edge around it.
What changes when the cutout is gone: the film now covers the area the badge occupies. That only works if the badge is off the panel before the film goes on. If you are keeping the original badge in place, keep the cutout — a closed pattern gives you nothing in that case, because the cutout is there precisely so the badge can stay where it is.
Removing PDC, camera and washer cutouts
Front bumpers are the hardest pieces to install. They carry PDC sensors (park distance control, commonly just called parking sensors), camera areas, sometimes headlamp washer jets, and complex curves all in the same piece. Each of those small cutouts has to be lined up while the film is still movable, which is fiddly work — the installation instructions cover the technique for the pieces you do keep.
We can leave those openings out of the pattern. You then lay down one continuous piece instead of registering the film to each opening in turn.
What you give up. The film then lies over the sensor faces rather than around them. We are not going to make a blanket claim that every parking sensor or camera reads correctly through a layer of film — that depends on the vehicle and on the sensor type, and it is not something we can answer for every car in the catalogue from here. So the honest guidance is this:
- If sensor behaviour matters to you, keep the cutouts. That is what the pattern was designed and test-fitted around.
- If you want the simpler installation and you have satisfied yourself about your own car, ask for the cutouts to be left out.
- If you are unsure, ask before you order rather than after. Material can be left in at the cutting stage; a hole cannot be put back once the kit is cut.
Headlamp washer jets are a case of their own: the covers physically move when the washers operate, so covering them changes how that part of the bumper behaves. Raise it with us rather than adding it to a note as an afterthought.
Single parts from a bundle and replacement pieces
Some kits are sold as bundles — doors together with the rocker panels or side skirts, for example. If you only need one piece out of that bundle — only the side skirts, say — contact us in live chat, send the link to the exact product and name the piece. We will put together a custom offer for exactly that part.
Mistakes during installation are the other half of this. DIY installation is a learning process and they happen, particularly on a first attempt or on a complex piece like a front bumper. If you ruin one piece out of a bundle, contact us: we will make you an offer for a replacement part, so you can try that piece again instead of buying the full kit a second time.
Your kit arrives pre-cut and pre-weeded with a printed layout sheet. That sheet is the fastest way to identify a piece: it names every part in the kit. Quote the name from the sheet rather than describing the piece, and send it together with your order number.
Changing coverage
Coverage requests are the vaguest category, so they need the most precise wording. Naming the panel, the edge and the outcome you want gets a useful answer; saying you want "a bit more coverage" does not.
What is realistic: closing an opening, small exclusions, and modest edge adjustments within the shape the pattern already has. What is not: growing the pattern past the surface that was scanned and flattened, or pushing a piece beyond the panel edge it was built to end on. A pattern can give material back; it cannot invent surface it never had.
What we can and cannot change
Everything above is what usually works. Here is the other half — the cases where the answer is no, or not without a conversation first.
Usually straightforward:
- Closing an emblem or badge cutout.
- Leaving PDC, camera or washer openings out of a bumper piece.
- Small edge and exclusion changes within the existing pattern.
Needs a conversation first:
- Anything unusual on the pattern itself. Not every request is a simple deletion, and not every opening is there for the same reason. Describe what you want before production and we will check what is possible on your pattern rather than guessing after the kit is cut.
- Extending coverage. A pattern covers the surface that was scanned. A request to wrap further than the pattern was built for is a new pattern, not a modification of an existing one. Getting a pattern that does not exist yet is a different request — see ordering custom PPF parts.
- Splitting a bundle. Not a pattern change but an order change, so it runs through live chat with the product link rather than the note field.
Not a modification at all:
- A car that is not in the catalogue. There is no existing pattern to change. See the guide for cars that are not listed.
- Aftermarket and tuning bodywork — widebody conversions, replacement bumpers and other non-original panels, Brabus and ABT among them. That bodywork is not in our scan data, so the specific parts would have to be scanned and a pattern built for them first. Ask us before you plan around it and we will tell you what is possible and what it would mean for cost and timing.
If you are not sure which of those three groups your request falls into, ask before you order rather than after the kit is cut.
Modifying a kit vs. a car that is not in the catalogue
Two questions that sound alike get very different answers:
- "Can you change the pattern you already have for my car?" — that is this page. A catalogue pattern exists; we adjust it before cutting.
- "Can you make a pattern for my car?" — that is the custom parts guide. No pattern exists yet, and the route to one is different.
If you want to know why a catalogue pattern is shaped the way it is before you ask us to change it, how we make pre-cut PPF patterns covers the scan, the flattening step and the test fit.
What to send us
- The product link to the exact kit. Kits differ between model years, trims and bumper variants — the link tells us precisely which pattern you are looking at, which a model name alone does not.
- Your order number, if the order is already placed.
- The part name from the printed layout sheet, for a single part or a replacement piece.
- Photos of the area, for anything to do with a specific cutout, badge or sensor. A photo removes the ambiguity a written description leaves.
- Photos of the car (front, side, bumper detail) if you are not yet sure which kit fits. We will double-check and tell you which kit is the right one.
Live chat is the quickest route when it is available. The contact page works at any time, and is the better option when you need to attach several photos.
FAQ
Can I get a Pre-Cut PPF kit without the logo cutout?
Yes. We can leave that opening closed so the panel is covered as one continuous piece. Write the request into the Customization Service field on the product page before you order. Be aware that a closed pattern covers the area the badge sits in, so the badge has to be off the panel when the film goes on.
Can I get a front bumper without parking sensor holes?
Yes. The PDC openings can be left out so the bumper piece goes on as one continuous piece instead of being aligned to each sensor ring. Before you decide, note that the film then lies over the sensor faces. We do not claim that every sensor reads correctly through film — it depends on the vehicle and the sensor type. If that matters to you, keep the cutouts.
Where do I write the change I want?
On the product page there is a field labelled Customization Service. Type the change into it before you add the kit to the cart, so the note is attached to the order. The placeholder shows the format: e.g. Remove Emblem Cutouts from Trunk Lid. Live chat and the contact page work too, and are the better route for anything that needs a conversation.
Can I order a single part instead of the whole kit?
Yes, ask in live chat. Some kits are sold as bundles that include several pieces, such as doors together with the rocker panels or side skirts. Send us the link to the exact product and say which piece you want on its own, and we will put together a custom offer for exactly that part.
Can I order a replacement piece if I ruin one during installation?
Yes. Contact us with your order number and the name of the part as it appears on the printed layout sheet that came with the kit, and we will make you an offer for that replacement part, so you do not have to buy the full kit again. Quote the printed part name rather than describing the piece — it removes the guesswork.
How late can I request a change?
The hard limit is that the change has to reach us before your kit is cut. The safest moment is when you place the order, using the Customization Service field. If you have already ordered, contact us straight away rather than waiting, because whether the window is still open depends on where your order is in production.
Can you change how far the film wraps around an edge?
Small edge and exclusion changes within the existing pattern are worth asking about. Extending coverage is different: a pattern covers the surface that was scanned and flattened, so a request to wrap further than the pattern was built for is a new pattern rather than a modification.
My car has a Brabus or ABT body kit. Can you do that?
That is a different job, not a modification. Aftermarket and tuning bodywork is not in our scan data, so the specific bodywork has to be scanned and a pattern built for it. That development work is charged as a fee. Standard production vehicles are ordered from the shop at the normal price.
Does a modification cost extra?
No. Standard changes to a pattern that already exists cost nothing extra — closing a logo or emblem cutout, leaving PDC or other sensor cutouts out, and comparable adjustments. If the change is larger or unusual, ask us before you order rather than assuming. Aftermarket and tuning bodywork is a separate case: no pattern exists for it, so it has to be scanned and a pattern built, and that development work is charged as a fee.
